Empty Word File After Conversion: Check for Scans First
When the downloaded Word file is empty or nearly empty, the usual cause is an image-based PDF: whole pages of scans with no text layer to extract. OCR is then attempted automatically to recognize the text.
- Verify first: can you select and highlight text in the PDF? Yes = text layer. No = image scan.
- Scanned files automatically go through OCR (first 5 pages, Chinese + English); recognized text is editable.
- Past 5 pages or with complex content, results may be incomplete — test with the first few pages.
- If it keeps failing after credits were used, contact support@pdftransfer.net.
FAQ
Why does a normal conversion extract no text? Image-based PDFs have no text layer, so there is nothing to extract — only OCR can help.
Will a paid credit pack fix the blank output? It does not change the file itself; but OCR and failure cases are handled on a case-by-case basis.
What does "very little content" mean? Very little text was extracted — the file is mainly images or possibly encrypted.
